Color & White Balance – Getting Natural Tones
Ever take a photo that looks:
- Too blue?
- Too orange?
- Weirdly green indoors?
That’s white balance.
White balance adjusts how your camera sees color temperature.
🌡 What Is Color Temperature?
Measured in Kelvin (K):
- 2000–3500K → Warm (orange/yellow)
- 5000–6000K → Neutral daylight
- 7000K+ → Cool (blue tones)
Your camera tries to guess this automatically — but it doesn’t always get it right.
⚙️ White Balance Modes
- Auto (AWB) – usually good outdoors
- Daylight – for sunny conditions
- Cloudy – adds warmth
- Tungsten – removes orange indoor cast
- Custom – most accurate
🎨 Why It Matters
Correct white balance:
- Makes skin tones natural
- Keeps snow white (not blue)
- Keeps indoor scenes realistic
Wrong white balance can ruin an otherwise great shot.
📌 Challenge:
Take the same photo:
- On Auto WB
- On Daylight
- On Cloudy
Compare the warmth difference.
